Measurements |
|
| The three most important measurements for the balloon sleeve to remember is the armhole length, biceps width and cap height. Armhole length in a dress can be determined from the person’s body or dress style, preferably front armhole and back armhole measurements taken separately. Biceps width can be easily determined on the person’s body and after one or two inches should be added for ease of hand movement. Cap height cannot be measured on one’s body or dress form but can be calculated from the front and back armhole measurements together. To calculate a cap height, add the front and back armhole numbers together and then divide the answer by four plus one inch. The final answer should be the cap height of the particular sleeve. For example, if the front armhole is nine inches and the back armhole is seven inches, then the final cap height is five inches exactly. Mostly, it depends on the style. |
